Rappahannock County & surrounding area

Wireless internet built for these hills

Piedmont Broadband has been getting internet to people who need it most across the ridges and hollows of Rappahannock County and its neighbors since 2008. No cable, no fiber trench, no waiting on a national carrier — just line-of-sight wireless, put in and supported by people who live here.

Who we are

A small, locally based company — every technician on our team lives in the area we serve.

Our goal is simple: let you use the internet without having to think about it. We've been serving Rappahannock County and parts of Fauquier, Culpeper, and Madison since 2008, and the way we deliver service has kept evolving to match it.

Our equipment is line-of-sight based, and the terrain out here doesn't always cooperate — so we've had to build custom solutions to reach homes and businesses that bigger providers pass over. We'd rather do that than pretend one antenna fits every ridge.

In 2021 the company changed hands and went through a real transformation: more technicians, newer wireless technology, and a sturdier backbone built on both licensed and unlicensed frequencies. We still believe in the same thing the company started with — a personable relationship with clients that feels organic, not scripted.

Why we run seven radios, not one

The terrain decides the frequency, not the other way around

Higher frequencies carry more bandwidth but need a clear, unobstructed line of sight. Lower frequencies travel farther and shrug off trees and terrain, at the cost of raw speed. We stock the whole range so your connection is built around your actual hilltop or hollow — not a one-size-fits-all radio.
